Create Panel makes a single standalone panel - a shelf, filler, custom part - that flows through nesting, pricing, labels and reports exactly like a cabinet part. Open it from the Cabybara toolbar or menu ("Create Panel"). The dialog remembers the last panel you created (including style and corners) across sessions; Enter creates, Escape cancels.
The dialog
Dimensions - Width (default 600), Height (400) with a swap button between them, and Thickness (18). All mm.
Orientation - three pictograms deciding how the panel stands when placed: Horizontal (lies flat), Vertical Front (faces front/back), Vertical Side (faces left/right).
Stock - the catalog sheet the panel is cut from (hardware entries are not offered). This is the assignment that makes the panel nest and price - with Stock at None the panel is silently skipped by nesting and flagged unpriced in quotes.
Panel Style - Plain, Glass Cutout or Slatted:
- Glass Cutout - a rectangular through-hole (no glass pane is added), with a uniform offset or per-side Top/Bottom/Left/Right offsets (default 50 mm). Validation stops offsets that exceed the panel.
- Slatted - evenly spaced through-slots: direction (horizontal / vertical), slat width (40), gap (10) and four edge margins (20 each). A live line shows the result ("7 slats, 6 gaps") and warns when there is no room; at least 2 slats must fit, and the margins along the slat direction must keep the panel in one piece.
Curved Corners - enable, pick any combination of the four corners (with Left end / Right end / All / None presets), set the radius (default 30 mm, must stay under half the smallest dimension) and arc segments (12). Combines with either style.
Material & Tag - the visual finish (leave as None to use the stock's material) and the SketchUp tag.
Placement
Create closes the dialog and starts the placement tool: a dashed preview follows the cursor with snapping, an orange arrow marks the front, the arrow keys rotate (90 degrees, 45 with Shift) or type an exact angle, and one click places the panel at the model root, named PNL_1, PNL_2, ... Escape cancels placement (the prepared definition stays in the model's component list).
What the panel carries
The placed panel is a full Cabybara part: standalone panel type, face stamped inside (flip with the Face Painter if the machined side matters), grain from the assigned stock (a stock without grain leaves the panel free to rotate and mirror in nesting), its orientation and dimensions, and the stock assignment.
Downstream, standalone panels group under "Standalone / Custom Panels" in the Production Report and Customer Pricing (excluded from cabinet counts and averages), label with cabinet name "Standalone", list flat in the Components Manager, and get their own price tags in the Pricing Overlay's Shift map. Components you adopted by assigning a stock appear in the same group, so it can contain items not created by this dialog.
