Cabinet Generation

Cabybara builds parametric cabinets ready for nesting, pricing and CNC export. Every cabinet type is created from one dialog: pick the type in the sidebar, adjust the fields, watch the live 3D preview, and Generate.

All dimension fields are in millimeters.

The dialog

• Sidebar - the cabinet types, grouped as Standard, Corner and Specialty. Clicking a type switches the whole dialog to that type's fields and resets them to its defaults - save a Preset (or use Load Recent) to bring your values back.
• Sections - the fields are grouped into collapsible sections (Dimensions, Shelves, Doors, ...). Which sections appear depends on the type; each type page below lists exactly what it shows.
• Preview pane - a live 3D preview updates as you type. Doors are drawn see-through so you can see inside; the "Solid doors" button draws them opaque to judge the closed front. The Preview button hides or shows the whole pane.
• Presets - save the current values under a name, load or delete them later. Presets are per cabinet type.
• Load Recent - restores the values from the last time you generated this type. The snapshot is saved on every Generate, even if generation fails, so your inputs are never lost.
• Reset - restores the type's default values.
• Validation - your inputs are checked continuously; problems appear in the bar above the footer while you type, and Generate is refused until they are fixed. The same messages are listed on each type's page where they need explanation.
• Keyboard - Escape cancels; Ctrl+Enter, pressed while in any field, generates.

Materials, Tags and Stocks

Every part group of a cabinet can carry three assignments:

• Material - the visual finish in the model, nothing more. Leave it as None to use the material of the assigned stock.
• Tag - the SketchUp tag the parts are placed on, for model organization and visibility control.
• Stock - the catalog sheet the part will be cut from. This is the assignment that matters downstream: nesting groups panels onto sheets by their stock, and pricing counts sheet and hardware costs from it.

One Uniform/Individual toggle covers all three: Uniform applies a single Frame row to the whole carcass; Individual gives each part group (sides, bottom, shelves, ...) its own row. Fiber, doors and other special parts always have their own separate rows.

After Generate

The dialog closes and the placement tool starts: a dashed preview of the cabinet follows your cursor with SketchUp's usual snapping, and an orange arrow marks the cabinet's front. Rotate with the left/right arrow keys (90 degree steps, 45 with Shift held) or type an exact angle. One click places the cabinet: it is named automatically (WC_1, GC_2, ...), lifted so its legs rest on the clicked surface, and selected. Escape cancels placement.
