Panel Tools

Four hover tools prepare panels for production. The painters share one interaction language: hover highlights the target with a state color, click applies, drag paints across panels, and Shift+Click applies to a whole part type inside a cabinet. Grain and Face add a model-wide overview while Shift is held; Panel Notes keeps its overview on permanently; the engraver works differently again, selecting faces that a dialog then applies. In all four, every change is a normal SketchUp undo step, hardware parts are blocked, and Escape exits.
- Grain Painter - sets grain direction (length / width / none / auto-follow-stock), which locks or frees panel rotation in nesting.
- Face Painter - stamps each panel's inside/ outside face. Nesting refuses to run while panels are unset, and the chosen face decides which side's machining exports and how the DXF is oriented.
- Face Engraver - cuts inset pockets that export to the CNC with their depth on a dedicated layer, and scribe lines.
- Panel Notes - tags panels with a production note, pattern name and lighting flag for the cut list and labels.
These attributes travel with the panel: grain set manually survives stock swaps (until cleared back to auto), faces stamped once stay stamped, and engravings are recorded on the part for reports and grouping. The Components Manager can view and bulk-edit grain, face and production notes across the whole model, and its "Only problems" filter finds panels that would block nesting.
