Create Kitchen Layout generates the room shell to build against: a floor, walls and a set of reference guide lines, always at the model origin. Open it from the Cabybara toolbar or menu ("Create Kitchen Layout"). Everything it creates is one undo step.
The dialog
Dimensions - Layout (Straight: back wall / L: back + left wall / U: back + both walls), Width (X-axis, default 3000 mm, min 500), Depth (Y-axis, default 2500, min 500), Wall Height (default 2400, min 1000). The form remembers your last-used values per computer, so the defaults apply only the first time. Enter creates, Escape cancels.
Reference Lines - axis guide lines at the origin (on by default), and a choice between bounded guides (finite segments spanning their wall or the room - the default) or classic infinite construction lines. Optional Stove and Sink center lines: pick the wall they refer to (back = along X, left = along Y) and the distance from the origin (defaults 1500 / 800 mm); they are drawn on the floor across the room.
Wall Height Reference Lines - four editable horizontal lines drawn on every wall in the layout, each with its purpose: Ground Cabinet Start (default 100 mm - the top of the legs), Marble Top (900 mm - the countertop's top face), Wall Cabinet Start (1500 mm) and Wall Cabinet End (2200 mm).
Options - "Replace existing kitchen layout" (on by default): a new run first erases the floor, walls and guides created by any previous run - your cabinets and other geometry are untouched. Unchecked, a second run adds a second shell on top.
Validation catches undersized rooms, marker distances beyond their wall, and reference heights above the wall height, with plain messages above the buttons.
What gets built
- Floor - a flat face group named "Kitchen Floor" on the Floor tag.
- Walls - 18 mm thick (fixed), full height, extruded outward so the room's inside faces sit exactly on your dimensions; groups on the Walls tag. Hiding the Walls tag is the natural way to see into the room while placing cabinets.
- Guides - each guide gets its own tag, and all guide tags nest in a "Kitchen Guides" tag folder so one click hides them all.
The guides are pure snapping targets for placing cabinets by hand - the height lines mark where ground cabinet bodies start, where the countertop tops out and where wall cabinets start and end; the center lines mark appliance centerlines. Nothing else in the plugin reads them, and the whole shell is invisible to nesting, pricing, reports and the Components Manager.
Notes
- The layout is always built at the model root and origin, regardless of where you are working.
- There is no ceiling and no wall openings; the floor has no thickness.
- The shell is ordinary SketchUp geometry - edit it freely, but a later Replace run erases whatever still carries the kitchen marker, including your edits to those objects - and also any root-level guide line sitting on the kitchen guide tags (the axis, Stove Center and Sink Center tags), even one you drew yourself. Replace only searches the model root, so a shell you grouped into something else is not swept.
