Panel Notes

Panel Notes tags panels with shop instructions - a production note, a pattern name and a lighting flag - that travel to the production report and the part labels. Activate it from the Cabybara toolbar or menu ("Panel Notes").

Unlike the other panel tools, it works with a small companion window: the window holds the values, and clicking a panel applies them. Closing the window exits the tool.

The window

• Lighting - a checkbox flag.
• Pattern - a free text name, e.g. "Wave 03".
• Note - free text, e.g. "Two Sided". Notes you use often can be saved as chips with + Save and reapplied with one click; the × on a chip deletes it. Chips are kept per computer, up to 20, and saving a 21st drops the oldest.
• Clear mode - while ticked, the form is locked and clicking a panel removes all three values.

Whatever is typed is live: there is no Apply button in the window, and the next click uses the current contents.

Applying

Hover a panel to see its current annotations in a tag above it (or "No annotations"), then:

• Click applies the window's values; drag continues across panels. With all three fields empty there is nothing to apply and the click is refused.
• Alt+Click samples a panel's annotations back into the window and switches Clear mode off. A panel with no annotations is refused, and the window keeps what it had.
• Shift+Click applies to every panel of the same type in that cabinet. A standalone panel has no cabinet to sweep, so it is refused there.
• With Clear mode on, click, drag and Shift+Click remove annotations instead.
• Typing in the measurements box sets the Note directly, and typing nothing clears it. The box refuses input while Clear mode is ticked.

Highlight colors: green will apply, red will clear, purple is the eyedropper, and grey means the part cannot be annotated (hardware, or a component that is not a Cabybara panel yet - assign a stock first).

Every annotated panel in the model stays tinted amber the whole time the tool is active, so you can see at a glance what has been tagged. There is no separate overview key.

Each click is its own undo step, so a drag across five panels takes five undos to unwind. A Shift+Click sweep is a single step however many panels it touches.

Annotations are stored on the panel inside the cabinet's definition, so tagging a panel affects every copy of that cabinet.

Where the values go

• Production report - Note, Pattern and Lighting are sheet export columns, carried by two routes only: CSV - All Panels, and Customize & Export... (where all three arrive pre-ticked). The print presets - Cut List, Cut List - Grouped, All Panels, Print by Stock - do not include them, and neither does the on-screen table. On the CSV route, a column with no values anywhere in that export hides itself; whatever you leave ticked in Customize is exported even when empty.
• Labels - the {note}, {pattern} and {lighting} tokens. {lighting} prints the word "Lighting", or nothing when the flag is off.
• Components Manager - an "N" badge marks annotated panels, and the bulk bar can set or clear all three across a selection. Note and Pattern clear by applying an empty box; Lighting has its own "(Clear)" choice.

The important consequence: annotations are part of the cut-list grouping key. Two otherwise-identical doors will not merge into one line if their notes differ - which is exactly the point when one of them needs different treatment, but surprising if you did not expect it.

Note that Pattern here is a free label for the shop; it is unrelated to the Decor Sculptor's wave presets.
