Lesson 0: Install

Goal: get Cabybara into SketchUp on this computer.

Time: two minutes.

Install the extension

Cabybara runs on SketchUp 2024 or 2026 on Windows.

If you were given a custom installer, follow the instructions that came with it. Otherwise you received an .rbz file whose name starts with cabybara, and SketchUp installs it itself:

  1. In SketchUp's menu bar open Extensions > Extension Manager.
  2. Press Install Extension.
  3. Select the Cabybara .rbz file.
  4. SketchUp installs and loads the extension. A Cabybara toolbar appears, and the Extensions menu gains a Cabybara submenu.

Checkpoint: the Cabybara toolbar is visible, and Extensions > Cabybara lists its commands.

What can go wrong

  • Installed, but no toolbar icons: right-click an empty spot on SketchUp's toolbar area (or open View > Toolbars) and make sure Cabybara is ticked.
  • Nothing happened after Install Extension, or it reported a failure: restart SketchUp and repeat the steps. Some customers hit this, and a second or third attempt goes through.
